What Is Carbon Tax:

What is the 12L tax incentive?

  • The 12L incentive according to Income Tax Act, 1962 (Act No. 58 of 1962) provides an allowance for businesses to implement energy efficiency savings (not just electricity).
  • Under the regulation, a company tax deduction of 95c/kWh is allowed for verified energy savings due to energy efficiency.
  • Encourages change and address South Africa’s energy supply security.
